La Leche League é uma ONG internacional que teve sua origem há 51 anos pelo entusiasmo de sete mulheres norte-americanas, todas nutrizes, que se deram conta das dificuldades que suas amigas tinham em relação à amamentação. Começaram a se reunir em casa de uma ou de outra, sem imaginar que aquele trabalho voluntário em prol da amamentação teria resultado na ONG que se espalhou por muitos e muitos países levando adiante o trabalho delas La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. All breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call our Leaders for breastfeeding help.
