SUMMARY OF ENACTED BREASTFEEDING LEGISLATION
ALABAMA
In April 2006, the Governor of Alabama signed this HB351 which provides that
a mother may breastfeed her child in any location where she is otherwise authorized to be present. The law takes effect
on July 1, 2006.

An Act, Relating to children; to allow a mother to
breastfeed her child in any public or private location.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. A mother may breastfeed her child in any
location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise
authorized to be present.
Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
first day of the third month following its passage and
approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
