New Events at the LLLI
Conference
Mary Hurt
LLLI PR Associate
From: LEAVEN, Vol. 40 No. 5, October-November 2004, p. 106.
We come together at La Leche
League International Conferences to learn. We come together to share.
We come together to reacquaint, renew and reap all the knowledge that
has been amassed since we last met. But we also come together to have
fun. That is the job of the Pizzazz team. We ensure that you will bring
back more than knowledge to your Groups at home. If you have never experienced
a Conference La Leche League style, hold onto your socks.
Several new events will take
place at the 2005 Conference. These were developed as a direct response
to the last Conference’s evaluations. We believe these changes
will make the flow of the Conference and sessions easier and you will
have more time choices.
1. We will have one Parade
of Nations. It will take place on the morning of July 2, 2005 just before
the keynote speaker.
2. We are combining all Area,
Department, and Division receptions into a Gala Gathering, held in the
ballroom on the evening of July 4th. This means you do not have to run
from one location to another to see and speak with people from all over
the world. There is plenty of time planned and you can still watch the
fireworks display, if you wish.
3. Instead of a formal Banquet,
there will be a Fun, Frolic, and Feast event on the evening of July
5th. A delicious meal will be provided along with fine entertainment.
The Founders’ Award will also be presented. The speaker will be
Lu Hanessian, a regular contributor to New Beginnings, author of the
new book, Let the Baby Drive, and television host to Discovery Health
Channel’s show, Make Room for Baby.
4. A general session has
been added on the last day so that all Conference attendees have additional
time together.
More surprises are in store
and more reasons to make a trip to the Conference. The more you gain,
the more you have to give!
For more information on the
LLLI Conference, including how to register and scheduled speakers and
sessions, look in future issues of NEW BEGINNINGS and LEAVEN or go to

The
Pizzazz Team Would Like Your Help
We are offering
several opportunities for Leaders to get involved on a short-term
basis during the Conference. Pizzazz has decided to continue
with the Founder escort service. You can be an escort for
some or part of the time and for one or more of the LLLI Founders.
This opportunity affords you a special time with a Founder
while you escort them through the crowds to their assigned
places in a timely manner. You can help find their table for
luncheons and, if you desire, share a meal with the Founders
and a new Leader or two. You can act as a link between generations.
To be part of this
service corps, contact Helene Scheff at hscheff at cox.net (email).
Outline any standing obligations so we can fit your assignments
in with the rest of your plans during the Conference.
