Nursing in Public: Jovina's Story
Nursing in the Open Air

As a new mom, I was always a little hesitant to nurse in public if I didn't have to. There were times when I would even go to my car if I could. A few months ago, when my son was about six months old, my family and I went shopping to a very busy outlet mall here in Florida. My son was hungry and the car was too far away. I searched for a secluded spot to nurse but there was none. I found a bench near the children's play area, sat down, and nursed my son.
There was something about the breeze in the air, the sun shining, and that special moment with my son that changed the way I feel about breastfeeding in public. It felt natural and good! Now when my 11-month-old son needs to nurse when we are out and about, I simply don't hesitate to sit down and nurse him.
