An instructive guide to breastfeeding La Leche League Argentina has won the prize for the best video exhibited at the 6th Argentine Breastfeeding Conference, organized by the Argentine Society of Pediatrics, held on Oct 2008 in Buenos Aires.

We know that mothers who are properly informed before giving birth have better chances of achieving a successful breastfeeding. This video offers clear, simple and concise information, with a preventative aim: we have focused on the origin of the most repeated difficulties that we, as Leaders, see in our daily practice.

It was created especially for mothers, with resources designed for its pedagogic purpose, resuming in almost 5 minutes the basics of breastfeeding, based on our experience supporting mothers who wish to breastfeed. This video is being now used by our Leaders in their Support Groups, in lectures, fairs and any event in which LLL takes part. It has been freely allowed to be used by all Spanish speaking LLL Leaders of the world, and we will soon have a subtitled version in English. We have copies in CD for childbirth classes, and for the obstetrics and pediatrics services of hospitals and clinics.

Also, it can be linked to YouTube from sites dedicated to babies and mothers. We are working on a massive circulation of this material through public and private TV channels, in all kind of programmes with feminine audience, not only in programmes for pregnant women. Also, this video will be submitted to federal and state health authorities, aiming to reach as many mothers as possible.
