How Can I Become a La Leche League Leader?
A La Leche League Leader is a mother who has had a specific type of breastfeeding and parenting experience, meets the prerequisites for Leadership, completed specific reading and introspection and has finished the extensive written training curriculum established by LLLI.
The first step towards becoming a Leader is to become an LLLI member. Anyone interested in supporting and promoting breastfeeding can join LLLI. If you are not already, we urge you to attend a La Leche League Group regularly and become a member.
If you are currently attending a meeting, be sure to let one of the Leaders know you are interested in becoming a Leader. She will review with you the philosophy of LLL and the responsibilities of Leadership, as well as how you can prepare for Leadership.
Even if you are too far from any LLL groups, you can still contact the Leader nearest you. This Leader would be able to assist you in contacting the LLL Leader Accreditation Department for your locale.
