LLLI News is the online newsletter from the La Leche League International Board of Directors to Leaders worldwide to communicate what is happening in various parts of LLL. It is coordinated by Ellen Mateer, Shevawn O’Connor and Marianne Vakiener.
WE TRUST THAT THE BREVITY OF THIS HOLIDAY ISSUE (SUMMER HOLIDAYS FOR THE LLLI NEWS COORDINATORS) WILL BE ESPECIALLY WELCOME TO LLL VOLUNTEER TRANSLATORS ALL OVER THE WORLD 😉
Breastfeeding Today’s Relaunch Issue #1 is Coming Soon!
Consider Being a Part of Issue #2
Our new Breastfeeding Today editors and BT Editorial Review Board are hard at work preparing an exciting first issue to hit the web by early October. Here’s a little hint at the topics to be covered in issue #1: staying sane and organized while balancing work while breastfeeding, a pictorial look at World Breastfeeding Week activities–where celebrated in August in many areas of the world, and more!
Quick on its heels will be another BT issue and we want to hear from you!
- Stories and photos from World Breastfeeding Week Europe and Canada, October activities
- Celebrations or holidays—overcoming hurdles to breastfeeding
- A tribute to LLL Leaders worldwide (Dec. 5 is International Volunteer Day). Inspirational stories from Leaders on how volunteering has enriched their lives and the lives of others.
- A personal experience story to promote World Prematurity Day (Nov. 17)
- A Leader’s experience interacting with moms who choose to breastfeed with HIV or AIDS in your country
We are also open to hearing other ideas that don’t fit these themes, so please don’t be shy!
The contributor deadline for the Nov./Dec. issue is Sept. 12! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in contributing and seeing our contributor guidelines.
If you have a moment please take our quick survey about our Breastfeeding Today publication. To those who have already completed the survey, and to those who shared with their groups – thank you.
WEBINAR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!
Visit the Webinar Library here: https://www.llli.org/resources/webinars/
LLLI webinars are offered to Leaders, and the wider community, as a way of sharing information, research and approaches, and as an income stream. They are a way to supplement Leader resources and support their continuing education. Although it is by no means *required* that Leaders use them, many Leaders have found them useful in their work.
Don’t forget to take advantage of our webinar scholarships open to all LLL Leaders. All active Leaders can register to watch any webinar from the LLLI Webinar Library for free (while funds last). To do so – select the green button labelled *scholarship opportunities for active Leaders* and follow the simple instructions. Scholarships do not include registration for CERPs credits.

All people in attendance at Live, Love, Latch!® events will be counted as participants who declare their support of breastfeeding in their local communities and beyond.
This celebration provides an opportunity to educate family, friends, healthcare providers, and other community members about ways they can support breastfeeding and emphasizes the value of the support network behind every nursing family.
