World Breastfeeding Week 2019: Let the Celebrations Continue!

This October, World Breastfeeding Week has been celebrated in Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Belgium and France. And in November, Greece will be joining in the celebration as well. Little by little, event news has been rolling into our Breastfeeding Today mailbox.

La Leche League Italy celebrated World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) from 1 to 7 October, with its website (www.lllitalia.org) release of a new breastfeeding how-to video designed and self-produced by La Leche League Leaders. This video shows a technique that facilitates the asymmetrical latch of the baby to the breast, making feedings more effective. All videos are located in the “Resources” area of the website. Even if you don’t speak Italian, the images are likely to speak to you!

La Leche League Italia ha celebrato la Settimana Mondiale dell’Allattamento (WBW) che si è svolta dal 1 al 7 ottobre, con la pubblicazione sul sito web ufficiale (www.lllitalia.org) di un nuovo video pensato e autoprodotto dalle Consulenti de La Leche League. In questo video viene mostrata una tecnica che agevola l’attacco asimmetrico del bambino al seno, rendendo la poppata più efficace. Tutti i video si trovano nell’area “Risorse” del sito web. La Leche League Italia held a free informative afternoon for healthcare professionals at the auditorium of the Schiavonia Hospital in Monselice (Padova). The seminar explored a variety of topics related to the problems and challenges that can be encountered during breastfeeding.

La Leche League Italia ha organizzato un pomeriggio informativo gratuito per gli operatori sanitari presso l’auditorium dell’ospedale di Schiavonia a Monselice (PD). Il seminario ha affrontato varie tematiche dedicate alle problematiche e difficoltà che si possono incontrare nel corso dell’allattamento.

In Viareggio, Tuscany (Italy), a special October event of sharing information and experiences reminded parents that even little things can greatly influence breastfeeding success.

A Viareggio, in Toscana (Italia), un evento speciale, tenutosi in ottobre per condividere informazioni ed esperienze, ha ricordato ai genitori che anche le piccole cose possono influenzare notevolmente il successo dell’allattamento.

You can print to paper or to a PDF file.

For best printing results, open the llli.org site in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Although you can view the site well in any browser, printing from other browsers might not operate correctly.

1. Browse to the web document that you want to print.

2. Click the Print button that is displayed on the web page (not the Print command on the browser menu or toolbar).
This opens the browser print window. The window displays a preview of the document that will be printed. The preview might take a minute to display, depending on the document size.

3. In the Printer box, select the desired printer.
For example, if you are working on a Windows computer, and you want to print to a PDF file, select Save as PDF.

4. As required, configure the other options such as the pages to print.

5. Click the Print button.
If you are generating a PDF, click Save. You are prompted for the name and folder location to save the file.
